2020 Summer Camp Registration is Now Open!

Introducing our exciting lineup of theatre and dance camps with offerings for ages preschool-high school. Class sizes are limited and fill up quickly! Note: If you register online, please download and return the Summer Camps Registration Packet to the MHT Box Office within five (5) business days of paying the camp fee. Online registrations must be paid in full. 

JUNE

>> VACATION ON MARS - A Science and Drama Camp!
June 1 - 5,  9:00 AM - 12:00 PM,  2nd - 6th Grade, Fee: $95
Musical theatre meets the science lab in this creative camp! Students will work on the wacky musical comedy VACATION ON MARS while exploring scientific principles related to the show via experiments guided by science teacher Tim Franklin! THE STORY: When a family sets out for the vacation of a lifetime, they have no idea they'll soon be touring the whole solar system! And these planets have attitude! Will the family ever get to Mars?
Performance: June 5 at 5:00 PM in MHT’s Studio Theatre. Instructors: Tim Franklin and April Cochran.

>> PRE-K BALLET: Princess Ballerinas
June 1 - 5,  11:00 AM - 11:45 AM,  Ages 3 - 6, Fee: $35

Become a Princess Ballerina in four days! Ballerinas will learn how to walk, run, skip, and curtsy just like a princess!  Leotard, tights, and ballet shoes are recommended. >> WINNIE THE POOH Kids - Musical Performance Camp!
June 8 - 12 & 15 - 19,  9:00 AM - 12:00PM,  1st - 6th Grade, Fee: $145
Welcome to the Hundred Acre Wood, where Winnie the Pooh is once again in search of honey! Along the way, he and his pals discover that Christopher Robin has been captured by the mysterious Backson! As they prepare for a rescue operation, the animals learn about teamwork, friendship and, of course... sharing snacks. This stage adaptation is certain to be an unforgettable musical experience! Performances: June 19 at 5:00 & June 20 at 2:30 in Market House Theatre

Based on MHT’s PlayTime interactive performance series, students come to the Clubhouse and create a secret handshake, learn the word of the day, and then act out a story with costumes and props from the magic Clubhouse trunk!

>> Progressive Play: THE WIZARD OF OZ
June 29 - July 3, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM, 1st - 8th Grade, Fee: $80

In this whimsical retelling of Frank L. Baum’s classic tale, audiences will follow Dorothy on her way to Oz and home again.  Students will work together to create a unique experience for audiences and performers alike as they travel from setting to setting.  Students will not only be performing, but creating costumes, props and scenery as well!

>> BALLET VARIATIONS INTENSIVE - Intermediate to Advanced
July 6 - 10, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM, Ages 11 - 18, Fee: $55

Learn a classical ballet variation piece! Students will learn what it takes to dance like a pro as we work through choreography in this week long intensive. At least two years of ballet experience is required. Wear a leotard and tights or leggings. Hair in a bun. Pointe shoes are welcome but not required!

Explore the world of the Hunger Games through a series of engaging classes and activities such as stage combat and designing your own over-the-top costumes.  End the week with our own version of the Hunger Games.

>> PETER PAN, JR - Musical Performance Camp!
July 13 - 17 & 20 - 24, 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM, 4th - 12th Grade, Fee: $195
Play a part in a fully produced musical adventure into Neverland.  Students will take on the professional challenge of learning their lines and music BEFORE camp starts, and then come together to create these classic characters over the course of two weeks.  Ticking crocodiles and pixie dust are only part of the magic that will make up Peter Pan Jr.! Instructors: Emily Griffin, Cindy Miller, Emi Hensel. Mandatory audition for role assignment: June 24 at 5:30.  Roles assigned by June 26. Performances:  July 24 at 7 PM, July 25 & 26 at 2:30 in Market House Theatre

Scamper like a mouse, float like a butterfly, and jump like a monkey! In this camp we will explore basic concepts of rhythm and movement. Perfect for boys and girls to discover the joys of dance! Wear comfortable clothing with hair pulled away from the face. Footwear can be ballet shoes or bare feet.

Come together for a week-long adventure of putting on a play based on the hilarious story “Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Book”!  Students will engage in every aspect of the production from decorating their sets to acting out their roles.  On the last day, share your hard work with a showcase for family and friends

The Market House Diva has gone missing! Join some of your favorite literary sleuths in solving the mystery of her disappearance and making sure the show still goes on.  The last day will include a showcase of a mystery play and reveal the solution to the case!

Payment & Refund Policy: A non-refundable deposit of $25 per class is due upon registration. Class changes and refunds in full can be made up until May 1. There will be no refunds after this point, but a credit can be made toward tuition of a future class within the same year of the cancellation. Online registrations must be paid in full. Grade Levels: Enroll your child in the grade level he or she will be entering in Fall 2020.

Meet MHT's Summer Camp Teaching Staff!

April Cochran is Education Director for Market House Theatre and has over 40 years of directing, teaching and performance experience for theatres throughout the midwest. She was the recipient of AACT’s Distinguished Merit Award in 2011.

Emi Hensel is Program Director for DanceMHT and MHT's principle choreographer. 

Emily Griffin is MHT's new Education Director! Joining us in July 2020! 

Cindy Miller is an accomplished musician and vocalist and has done extensive work with MHT as past Development Director and music director for several musicals, including the upcoming show Matilda.

Miranda Bliss Currently an instructor for our preschool Footlights troupes, she is excited to lead our younger friends in imagination, creativity and PLAY!  

Emily Yocum Black has performed extensively in musicals, operas, chamber and orchestral works for over 15 years.

Tim Franklin is a science teacher at Paducah Middle School. He offers a unique approach to teaching science by utilizing fine arts in his classroom instruction.
